Position Overview

Combining optical microscopy, computational super-resolution, artificial intelligence, and robotics, Nanotronics is bringing the world’s most advanced microscope to every manufacturing sector. Nanotronics is looking for an innovative, high performing manager to lead our engineering teams in the development of the world’s most technologically advanced solutions. This position will be responsible for all software engineering development, the software control of automation hardware and software quality assurance. This role is heavily focused on Technical Project Management. The Software Engineering Manager will be located in Brooklyn, NY and will report directly to the VP of Research & Development. Engineering team members are currently distributed across three Nanotronics locations — New York, Ohio, and California.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of Nanotronics nSpec® software development project deliverables and timelines and software release schedules. This includes planning, scheduling, and coordinating work assignments among engineers and communicate changes in status to other teams as needed.
  • Manage the Quality Assurance team to ensure the high quality of all software.
  • Work with the Nanotronics Product, Technical Service, Hardware Design and Automation teams to establish the project scope on new product feature requests or bug fixes.
  • Distill stories, feature requests, and conversations with internal teams, customers, and potential customers into actionable development programs.
  • Manage and host Nanotronics nSpec® weekly update meetings for software development team, departments heads from other teams and the executive team.
  • Recruit exceptional software engineers as needed.
  • Provide customer focused leadership while creating clean and scalable code.
  • Maintain positive, collaborative, and high-performing work environment.
  • Serve as technical and non-technical mentor to engineering team and ensure developmental needs are met.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Knowledge of the following programming languages and technologies: C++, Python and SQL
  • 5+ year experience managing an engineering team
  • Experience creating clean, elegant code
  • Experience with object-oriented design
  • Experience with interface between hardware and software is a plus
  • Experience with computer vision, machine learning and Artificial Intelligence is a plus


Work Environment


Position is based in our Brooklyn, NY office and requires substantial in-office presence in order to work with hardware. Travel will be required occasionally.

Position Overview

Nanotronics is looking for smart and passionate software engineers to join our agile engineering team in the development of the world’s most technologically advanced nanoimaging solutions. This position will be responsible for software engineering development and the software control of automation hardware.

Our software team is making nanoimaging fast, accurate and cost-efficient by combining optical and atomic force microscopy with machine learning and artificial intelligence. The solutions we build push the envelope of what can be done, so we need engineers who are highly intelligent, hardworking and creative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, test, and debug software applications for motion control application and processing
  • A deep understanding of computer science, and experience with C++
  • Create innovative solutions to solve challenging problems for production inspection systems
